It is often hard to find the right or perfect cruise itinerary that will include the best Australia and New Zealand have to offer. Some leave off Auckland, others leave off the Bay of Islands and most leave off Tasmania. This really is likely the best cruise/tour we have been able to offer for many years. New Zealand includes Auckland, the Bay of Islands, Tauranga, Christchurch, Dunedin, and the stunning fjords of New Zealand. After New Zealand, you head to Tasmania to experience Port Arthur and Hobart before finishing in Sydney. We have also included Brisbane and an option to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef. Itinerary
Your day-by-day itinerary is a partial list of your tour. The Regular Tour itinerary below is subject to change as needed at any time to accomplish everything we can in each area we visit.
Day 1: March 3:
Late afternoon flight from home to Los Angeles. Your flight will depart late this evening from Los Angeles to Auckland.
Day 2: March 4:
Lose a day as you pass through the International Date Line.
Day 3: March 5: Auckland, New Zealand
We will have a late morning arrival where we will do a city tour of Auckland including the Auckland Museum. We then transfer to our hotel where we overnight.
Day 4: March 6: Auckland, New Zealand
Today we will finish our touring in the Auckland area. We then transfer to our beautiful cruise ship the Royal Princess.
Day 5: March 7: Bay of Islands, New Zealand
For those who purchased our shore excursion package, we will have the chance to relax as we cruise past rocky promontories and secluded beaches on our way to Hole-in-The-Rock, a 240 ft hole in the cliff that has slowly been eroded by wind and waves. Along the way, you may even have the chance to see dolphins playing in the waves.
Day 6: March 8: Tauranga, New Zealand
The ship docks about 1 ½ hour from Rotorua. For those who purchased our optional shore excursion package we are headed to Rotorua. Our tour includes a visit to the Agradome with a sheep show and a sheep shearing demonstration along with a tour of a working farm.
Day 7: March 9: Fun Day at Sea
Today is a relaxing day to explore this fantastic ship.
Day 8: March 10: Picton, New Zealand
We will not be offering a tour in Picton. Today will be a free day. You can purchase an excursion through the ship.
Day 9: March 11: Christchurch, New Zealand
We will drive 1.5 hrs to Akaroa. Akaroa is home to one of the world’s rarest and smallest dolphins, the Hector’s Dolphin. These endangered dolphins are only found in this small corner of the world. For those who purchased our optional shore excursion package we will take a boat ride where you may have an opportunity to see and enjoy a variety of sea and birdlife throughout the cruise including the rare Hector’s Dolphin, blue penguin, fur seals, and more. Remember that there is no guarantee to see wildlife since they are wild animals. At the conclusion of your cruise, you will drive back to Christchurch for some free time.
Day 10: March 12: Dunedin, New Zealand
The ship docks about 25 minutes out of Dunedin. For those who purchased our optional shore excursion package we will do a full-day tour of Dunedin and the surrounding area. We enjoy a “fairy tale drive” through captivating scenery while making stops along the way. Later we visit the territory of a rare Royal Albatross Colony. We may even see the largest seabird in the world take flight or come in for a landing. These birds are amazing and one of our favorites to observe. We end the day with a city tour before returning to our ship.
Day 11: March 13: New Zealand Fjords
Today will be a day of sailing through the Fjords of New Zealand. You will enjoy the stunning beauty of Doubtful Sound, Dusky Sound, and Milford Sound where sheer cliffs cut through the heart of the Southern Alps. These are some of the most beautiful fjords in the world. Be sure to have your camera ready for unspoiled beauty, sheer peaks, and waterfalls that make this a truly memorable day.

Day 14: March 16: Hobart (Tasmania), Australia
Today we will offer an optional excursion to visit Port Arthur Prison Colony. Australia was not used by Europeans as a vacation destination, but as a place to keep their criminals. Port Arthur was used as a prison from the 1830’s to the 1870’s. This is depicted in the classic Hollywood film, “Quigley Down Under.” More than 12,000 convicts passed through this penal colony. The old buildings, manicured grounds and the breathtaking ocean scene create one of the most beautiful places in Australia.
Day 15: March 17: Port Arthur, Australia
For those who purchased our optional shore excursion package we will visit the surrounding area.
Day 16: March 18: Fun Day at Sea
Today is a relaxing day to explore this fantastic ship.
Day 17: March 19: Sydney
Unfortunately, we must say goodbye to our beautiful ship. After we disembark we will start our tour of Sydney which will include a city tour and a visit to the famous Opera House (including a tour of the interior). Later we will transfer to the Sidney airport for our evening flight to Brisbane. After our arrival into Brisbane we will transfer to our hotel where we spend the next 2 nights.
Day 18: March 20: Brisbane, Australia
Today we will do a city tour of Brisbane including a visit to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you will be able to get up close and friendly with kangaroos, koala bears, and other Australian wildlife.
Day 19: March 21: Brisbane — Fiji
Today we will finish any missed touring. We then transfer to the Brisbane Airport for our flight to Fiji. Upon arrival in Fiji, we will transfer about 1 hour to our hotel where we will spend the next 3 nights. (The flight from Brisbane to Fiji is included in the group airfare. If you did not purchase the group airfare you must still purchase this internal flight on the same flight as the group. It is NOT included in the price of the tour.)
Day 20: March 22: Fiji

Day 22: March 24: Fiji – Home
Enjoy today to the fullest! Sadly today is the last day to pretend that the real world doesn’t exist. So have fun, and make the most of this beautiful resort. You will be required to check out of your hotel room by noon. We then enjoy a half-day tour of Nadi before we head to the airport for our late evening flight. We cross the International Date Line on the way home…so you get to enjoy today twice! Have a great trip.

This morning we will finish any missed touring around Sydney. Later we will transfer to the Sidney airport for our evening flight to Cairns. After our arrival into Cairns we will transfer to our hotel where we spend the next 3 nights.
Day 20: March 21: Cairns, Australia
This morning, we will take a 1.5 hour cable car ride to Kuranda to enjoy the markets. Kuranda is famous for its markets. Stalls offer a wide range of Aboriginal artefacts, handmade leather goods, wood and jewelry. Later we visit the Rainforestation Nature Park. We then transfer back to our hotel to overnight.
Day 21: March 22: Cairns, Australia
Today will be a full day on the Great Barrier Reef. We take a boat to the Outer Barrier Reef for unlimited snorkeling (equipment and instruction included) and swimming. At the end of the day, we return to the hotel.
Day 22: March 23: Cairns – Brisbane, Australia
This morning will be free to enjoy on your own. This late afternoon we will transfer to the Cairns Airport for our flight to Brisbane. Upon arrival into Brisbane we will transfer to the hotel where we will spend the next 2 nights.
Day 23: March 24: Brisbane, Australia
