Itinerary
This is a partial list, and subject to change as needed to accomplish everything we can in each area we visit. We will have local guides who will make sure we see the very best in the time we have.
Day 1: June 11: Fly
Today you will fly from the U.S. to Paris, France.
Day 2: June 12: Paris
Morning arrival into Paris. After clearing customs, we will do a city tour of Paris before going to our hotel. (Transfers are included if you booked our group airfare or your flight arrives on or before and departs on or after our group flights.)
Day 3: June 13: Paris – Rouen – Normandy Landing Beaches
Today, we will head to the Normandy Landing Beaches on the coast of France. We will stop at Rouen, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. Our tour today will be along the Normandy Coast and the landing beaches of the Allied invasion. It will include a visit to the Omaha Beach site where the American troops landed on D-day. We will also visit The American Cemetery, which is situated above Omaha Beach. Overnight Normandy Coast Area.
Day 4: June 14: Mount Saint Michel – Normandy
Today will be a highlight day. Mount Saint Michel is a fortified monastery that looks like a castle; it is located on an island just off the coast of France. It was built approximately 700 years ago and today, it looks and feels the same as it did then. Most of the medieval walled city structures date back to the 1300s. After our tour, we will head back to Normandy to overnight.
Day 5: June 15: Normandy Beaches – Versailles – Paris
This morning, we will head back to Paris. This afternoon we will visit Versailles, the prestigious royal palace which was built by Louis XIV more than three centuries ago. If time permits, we will stop at the Paris LDS Temple for a picture stop before heading to our hotel in Paris.
Day 6: June 16: Paris
Today will be a tour of Paris that will include the Louvre Museum, the home of the Mona Lisa, and the Eiffel Tower. Overnight in Paris.
Day 7: June 17: Paris – Montreux
This morning we will take a high-speed train to Switzerland. Our large luggage will be shipped by Bus and will join you later in Switzerland. Upon arrival, we will visit the Chillon Castle. We will overnight in Switzerland.
Day 8: June 18: Zermatt– Grindelwald
We will depart our hotel early morning and drive to Zermatt. Upon arrival, we will have free time to enjoy this picturesque town and views of the Matterhorn. You will have the option to add a cog-wheel mountain ride up to the Gornergrat Ridge at over 10,000 feet, for an additional cost. From there, you have the opportunity to see the highest mountains of your trip, including a majestic view of the Matterhorn. After our visit to Zermatt, we will take the train back to our buses and continue on to the village of Grindelwald to overnight.
Day 9: June 19: Grindelwald
Today is a big highlight day!! We will drive into a beautiful glacier-cut valley where you will see jaw-dropping rock formations and waterfalls. A little bit further, in this same valley, you visit the Trümmelbachfälle, a series of ten waterfalls “inside” the mountain!! It is truly one of the natural wonders of the world. Then we will drive to the Lauterbrunnen train station, where we take a cog-wheel train to Kleine Scheidegg. You will enjoy the majestic panorama of the Jungfrau Group from the train. Overnight Grindelwald.
Day 10: June 20: Grindelwald – Interlaken – Riquewihr – Ama Ship
Today will be another highlight day as we stop for a walk around Interlaken. We will also have a picture stop at the Swiss LDS Temple on our way to the major highlight of the Medieval Walled Village of Riquewihr. Later in the afternoon, we will board our fantastic AmaWaterways cruise ship in Basel.
Important Note: Amawaterways includes premium shore excursions at no additional cost. In many of the ports of call, the ship may offer different shore excursions, often including a bicycle tour. Our owners have selected what they felt to be the best shore excursion for each port. After you arrive at the ship, if you decide that you would like to make a change to a different tour, you can make that change onboard. Please note that the shore excursions we recommend in the day-to-day itinerary below could be different from what the ship offers in 2026. This is the best of what they are currently offering.
Day 11: June 21: BREISACH, GERMANY
Step back in time with a visit to the enchanting Alsatian town of Colmar, which looks almost the same as it did in the 16th century. On your walking tour, admire historic architecture and perhaps get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty, a small replica of the famous version in New York, to commemorate the sculptor’s Colmar birthplace.
Day 12: June 22: Strasbourg
Strasbourg, the capital city of Alsace, offers flavors of both France and Germany because of its border location. Today we will do a city tour of Strasbourg with some free time after the tour.
Day 13: June 23: Ludwigshafen – Rudesheim
From our port in Ludwigshafen, we will visit Heidelberg, the perfectly preserved medieval city nestled in the Neckar River Valley along Germany’s Castle Road. Discover the iconic red sandstone Heidelberg Castle and Great Vat, an 18th-century 49,000-gallon wine cask. You’ll have some free time to explore the shops and quaint Marktplatz. Later in the day, sail to Rüdesheim*, where you can visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Instrument Cabinet – a real highlight. Our ship will overnight in Rudesheim.
Day 14: June 24: Rudesheim – Rhine Gorge – Lahnstein
Take a gondola ride to the Niederwalddenkmal Statue, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the river. During the afternoon, set sail along the scenic Rhine River Gorge with its fabled legends and many castles. There are close to 40 castles and fortresses in a little over 24 miles while sailing through the Rhine River Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our next stop today is Lahnstein, where you’ll enjoy a visit to Lahneck Castle.
Day 15: June 25: Dusseldorf
Take a trip to the nearby city of Cologne. Home to one of Germany’s most revered Gothic masterpieces, the Cologne Cathedral, this 2,000-year-old city is also a bustling cosmopolitan hotspot. Join a guided tour through the enchanting Old Town and explore the UNESCO-designated cathedral, where the remains of the fabled Three Kings—the Magi— are believed to rest.
Day 16: June 26: Amsterdam
Amsterdam boasts amazing history, art, architecture, and museums. We arrive midday in Amsterdam. We will take a picturesque canal cruise throughout the city, giving you a close-up view of these inspiring waterways. You will then have some free time to explore Amsterdam.
Day 17: June 27: Fly
Today you will fly from Amsterdam back to the U.S. & Home. (Transfers are included if you booked our group airfare or your flight arrives on or before and departs on or after our group flights.)
