Mississippi River Paddle Boat
Memphis to New Orleans American Queen Paddle Wheel Steamboat 12 day cruise/tour - November 25, 2023Information
River Cruise Description
A Mississippi paddle boat cruise is exciting, fun, and relaxing. You will love old New Orleans, the airboat ride through the swamps, the many old plantation homes, the Civil War sites, and most of all; you will love experiencing what it was like 100 years ago sailing the Mississippi River on a replica of a luxury paddle boat. Our educator will be there to enhance your experience by bringing the history of the area to life. We have combined the American Queen Paddle Steamboat package with 1 additional night in Memphis and 2 additional nights in New Orleans after the cruise. Our tour in New Orleans will include the World War II Museum, the Mardi Gras World (where they are in the middle of building next year’s floats), and Bourbon Street. Our tour in Memphis will include the Civil Rights Museum, the home of Elvis Presley’s Graceland and Sun Studio, where the jam session involving Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash (Million Dollar Quartet) took place. You do not want to be touring or sailing the Mississippi in the heat of 90-plus degrees and 90 to 100% humidity. We have picked the perfect time of year – the end of November has the best temperatures in the South. At the time of our sailing, the average temperature is 70 degrees in New Orleans, and for the vast majority of our stops, the average temperatures range from 65 to 70. There are fewer crowds, along with perfect touring and walking temperatures. Another reason this is the perfect time of year is that New Orleans lights up for Christmas on Thanksgiving weekend. We will see the pageantry and beauty of Christmas in New Orleans and other cities as we travel the Mississippi without the cold temperatures of Christmas.
