Group 3 Holy Land Tourwith Oberammergau Passion Play 18 day tour - September 20, 2020
This might be the ultimate experience; the study of Christ through the Holy Lands combined with the Oberammergau Passion Play. We have designed this special tour to include the BEST of the Holy Lands, along with Oberammergau’s wonderful Passion Play. It has so much to offer. You will attend the wonderful Passion Play in Oberammergau and to top it all off you will spend a week walking where Jesus walked in Israel. The icing on the cake is the addition of Jordan and Egypt. A chance to do all of this in one trip only happens once every 10 years. This really is a once in a lifetime trip.
Here is a partial list of what you will see and experience:
Jerusalem, the sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Masada, the Jerusalem Center, Nazareth, Garden of Gethsemane, the Garden Tomb, Mount of Beatitudes, Mt. Carmel, Capernaum, Caesarea, Mt. Tabor, Antonia Fortress, tour on top of Temple Mount, Palace of Caiaphas, Mt. Nebo, Jesus’ baptismal area, swim in the Dead Sea, Petra, Amman and so much more! We also visit places others miss or are not allowed to visit. Some even leave off Bethlehem, and most leave off Jordan! One of the sites missed by everyone else is the ongoing excavations of the City of Lehi. A cave was discovered a short distance from Jerusalem with writings of a Prophet from 600 BC. The Nomad tribes consider the hill above the cave to be a sacred place. As they put it, “Before there was Muhammad there was a great prophet named Lehi and he taught from that hill”. This will be a major highlight of your tour in Israel. The excavations are on an Army Base. Only those excavating and Fun For Less Tours have been given permission to be in this area.

We will then head to Beit Lehi to experience firsthand an archaeological dig. Our visit to Beit Lehi includes beautiful early Christian mosaics, oil presses, a mikvah (a ritual bath) and the recently discovered columbarium where doves were raised by the thousands for sacrifice at the Temple. There is also a New Testament period stable which will give you one of the best examples of what the birth of the Savior was possibly like. On our way back to Jerusalem we will stop at the Valley of Elah, where David fought Goliath.
Day 14: October 3: Jerusalem
Today we reach the spiritual pinnacle of our pilgrimage as we retrace the footsteps of our Savior during the last hours of his life and feel the deep appreciation these places create and for the sacrifice of the Son of God. We begin on Mt. Zion at the traditional site of the Upper Room where the Last Supper was shared with devoted apostles. We will then visit St. Peter in Gallicantu, the possible site of the cock’s crowing and the Palace of Caiaphas where Jesus was tried. From there we descend into the Kidron Valley to visit Gethsemane, the Garden of the Savior’s deepest prayers. In the afternoon we will enter the Old City and continue the last hours of the Savior’s life. We will visit The Church of St Anne where the Pools of Bethesda were located. Here Jesus commanded the impotent man to take up his bed and walk. We continue onto the Convent of the Sisters of Zion, the location of the Antonia Fortress where Pilate tried the Savior. Driving to the far north of Israel, we will pass the Canaanite city of Hazor on our way to Tel Dan. Here Jeroboam erected a golden calf for the Israelites to worship, marking the beginning of the events that would end with the “lost ten tribes.” The restored walls and gates give us an excellent idea of the fortifications Joshua had to face as he conquered the land. We will visit Banias, known as Caesarea Philippi in the days of Jesus where he asked his disciples, “Whom do ye say that I am?” At the end of the day, we will return to our hotel in Galilee.
