Saudi Arabia

Before we take a new tour into an area, we like to do our research. Our owners have taken two trips to Saudi Arabia. What we have included with this tour will deliver the very best Saudi Arabia has to offer. For most of our lives, Saudi Arabia has been closed to tourism. Then in late 2019 they all of a sudden decided to open their doors to tourism, only to close it back down a few months later when the Coronavirus started spreading through the world. After being closed for almost 2 years, it again has opened its doors.

Here is an overview of some of the highlights you will experience:

  • Madinah: There are two sacred cities in Saudi Arabia – Mecca and Madinah. For over a 1,000 years, only those of the Muslim or the Islamic faith have ever been allowed anywhere near the cities of Mecca or Madinah. Then in 2023, just a year ago, Madinah opened to tourism and we are going there. One of the reasons your educator, Michael Wilcox is so excited for this tour and cruise is because of Madinah. After studying about Islam religion, Madinah became high on his bucket list of places he wanted to visit.
  • In the deserts of Saudi Arabia, the breathtaking oasis of Al Ula has sustained human occupation for thousands of years. With stunning scenery and UNESCO world heritage sites, this will be a huge highlight!!
  • High-Speed Train: Travel up to 180 miles an hour on a high-speed train between Jeddah and Madinah.
  • Jeddah: Located on the Red Sea, one of the highlights will be our visit to Al-Balad, the old section of Jeddah.

Your Luxurious Beach Resort Is Worth the Whole Trip

Our favorite beach resort IN THE WORLD!!! Nowhere have we ever found a beach resort that can compare. It is impossible to give you a true feeling of how luxurious this beach resort is! But, let us try with a few of our beach resort highlights:

Here is an overview of some of the highlights we will experience:

  • 19 swimming pools including a gigantic swimming pool at the beach.
  • 40 restaurants on the property.
  • Gigantic Water Park: Connected to the property is a gigantic water park that costs $95 per person – we get in free.
  • 1.2 miles of private beach that is only usable for guests staying on the property.
  • 2.3 miles of waterways and canals that wind through the resort, beaches and shopping areas. Think of Venice and you will get the picture.
  • Souk Madinat Jumeirah – best replica of traditional Arabian market in all of Dubai.
  • Small boats and Golf Carts: To get around the property, the 2.3 miles of canals, the water park and the 1.2 miles of private beach – they have small boats and golf carts stationed everywhere to whisk you away by boat or golf cart to one of the restaurants, the Arab Souk Market, the water park, one of the swimming pools or to a new beach location. They are at your disposal any time of day and it is all free. Just for fun, we always love to take the 2.3 mile boat ride through the stunning property.

In all of our travels in the world, we have never seen a beach resort that is as unique and fun as this special resort. It is keeping with Dubai’s reputation of over the top or the world’s largest and best of everything. This resort hotel is upwards of $1,000 per night, when you include taxes, fees, water park, breakfast and the deluxe room our guests stay in. Having worked with them for many years, we have special pricing that is a small fraction of what others pay. This may be your greatest highlight AND worth the whole trip! This is a once in a lifetime experience in an over the top luxury beach resort!!!

Your day-by-day itinerary is a partial list of your tour. The itinerary below is subject to change as needed at any time.

Day 1: January 31: Fly to Dubai
Today we will fly to Dubai.

Day 2: February 1: Dubai
After clearing customs in Dubai, we will transfer to our hotel.  (Transfers are included if you booked our group airfare or your flight arrives on or before and departs on or after our group flights.)

Day 3: February 2: Dubai – Jeddah
Today we will fly to Jeddah. Upon arrival, we will explore Al Balad which means “the town”. Al Balad was founded in the 7th century and historically served as the center of Jeddah. We will overnight in Jeddah.

Day 4: February 3: Jeddah – Madinah – Al Ula
Madinah
is one of the holiest places for Muslims.  While in Madinah you will need to dress according to the Medina dress standards. Shorts and short sleeves are not allowed for men or women. Women are also required to wear scarves. No tight-fitting clothes or bright colors (dark-colored clothing is best).

Please note that we are only able to see the Mosques from outside of the grounds. We are not allowed to see where Mohammed is buried. It is a religious site and only Muslims are allowed to visit these mosques.

This morning we will take a train to Madinah. We will visit the Prophet Mosque from the outside. Next, we will go to Qiba Street which connects two mosques, the Holy Mosque and Qiba Mosque, both of which have significant importance in Islamic history. The Holy Mosque was built on the site of the prophet Mohammed’s first house and where he was buried. The Qiba Mosque was the first Mosque ever built. You will have a general overview of how the city was built and shaped throughout the 1400 years. Later, we will drive approximately 4 hours to Al Ula. Al Ula is a place of extraordinary human history and natural beauty.

Upon arrival, we will visit the Elephant Rock, also known as Jabal AlFil, one of Al Ula’s many geological marvels. Unlike the ornate, hand-carved facades of nearby Hegra’s Nabataean tombs, the “trunk” and “body” of this monolithic red sandstone beast, were hewn by natural forces — millions of years of wind and water erosion. The beauty of the unrefined structure is enhanced by its surroundings of a fine-sand sea studded with rocky outcrops, many of which are equally impressive in size and have interesting shapes and figures. Later we will transfer to our hotel.

Day 5: February 4: Al Ula – Jeddah
Today we are starting with the most popular historical site in Saudi Arabia, Madain Saleh is the most iconic historical site in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it was the first to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Later we will take a flight to Jeddah. Upon arrival, we will transfer to our hotel.

Day 6: February 5: Jeddah – Dubai
This morning we will transfer to Jeddah airport to catch our flight to Dubai. Upon arrival in Dubai, you will be transferred to your beach hotel.

Day 7: February 6: Luxury Beach Resort

Day 8: February 7: Dubai
This morning we will visit one of the most beautiful gardens in the world- the Dubai Miracle Garden. This garden is home to over 45 million flowers arranged in beautiful shapes, and designs. Next, we will visit one of the newest attractions in Dubai- The Museum of the Future. The Museum of the Future is not just another museum devoted to contemporary creativity, but also the latest in design, prototyping, and technological advancements.  The museum – just as the name says – is devoted to crafting real next-generation exhibits that will take you 50 years into the future. Later we will transfer to the cruise terminal to check into our cruise.

Day 9: February 8: Dubai
Today we will start our day with a visit to old Dubai. We will walk through the bustling alleys and souks where you will be surrounded by the aromas of exotic spices and see jewelry varying from traditional to the latest designs. We will continue our tour through the material market taking a closer look at the wind towers on our way to Abras, local water taxis that will take us across the creek to the spice and gold souks. Later we visit the world’s tallest building, which is situated in the world’s largest shopping mall. The high-speed elevators travel at 32 feet per second until you reach the observation deck in the world’s tallest building. After visiting Burj Khalifa we will visit Dubai Mall (the biggest mall in Dubai) where you will have some time to shop. Then we will return to our cruise ship.

Day 10: February 9: Dubai
Today we will visit the world’s largest man-made island, which has captured the world’s imagination with its magnificent scale and ingenuity, The Palm Jumeirah. We will have a quick photo stop in front of the luxurious Atlantis, which is a magnificent, oceanic tribute to a mythological age. We we return to the cruise ship for our mid day departure towards Muscat.

Day 11: February 10: Muscat
Today will be a full-day city tour of Muscat. We will start our Oman cultural experience with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque – an architectural marvel. It can house over 20,000 worshippers and is the landmark of the city. (Mosque dress code – Mandatory- Ladies fully covered and to carry a head scarf and men in trousers). Our next stop will be the Royal Opera House, a premier venue for musical arts and culture. Next, we will visit the National Museum. Later we will drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the colorful Muttrah Souq & Fish Market. We also plan to make a photo stop at the magnificent Al Alam Palace, the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, flanked by the 16th-century Portuguese forts Mirani & Jalali.  We then return to the cruise ship.

Day 12: February 11: Day at Sea
Today you will have a free day to explore your cruise ship.

Day 13: February 12: Doha
Our excursion today will be a full-day tour of Doha. Our first stop will be at the Sheikh Faisal Museum. Located outside the city in a traditional-style fort at Al Samriya Farm, the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum houses the Sheikh’s personal collection, with a body of works including Islamic art, Qatari heritage, vehicles, handmade carpets, and coins & currency from over four continents. These diverse and eclectic objects tell the story of the museum’s founder, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim, as well as of humanity in general. The next stop will be at Katara Cultural Village. Katara is a cultural village in Doha, Qatar. It is located on the eastern coast between West Bay and the Pearl. Return to the cruise ship.

Day 14: February 13: Abu Dhabi, UAE
In the morning on our excursion we plan to have a city tour and a visit to the Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque – which has been named to honor the late president, his Highness Sheikh Zayed Bein Sultan Al Nahyan. The mosque dress code applies. In the afternoon we will visit the extraordinary Qasr Al Watan or the Palace of the Nation! A striking segment of the capital city’s Presidential Palace complex, Qasr Al Watan is where the significant government buildings are located. It is the meeting place of the country’s supreme constitutional authority, it also serves as a venue to host global leaders during their UAE visits.  We  return to cruise ship.

Day 15: February 14: Dubai
This morning we will say goodbye to our cruise ship. We will enjoy a tour of Dubai in the morning. In the afternoon, we will take a safari into the desert where we enjoy dinner. The trip provides you with an opportunity to discover the golden sand dunes of Arabia in a 4-wheel drive vehicle, experience the thrill of a lifetime – a roller coaster ride through the sand dunes and stop on the highest sand dune to take breathtaking photographs. The adventure then continues with a drive to an exquisite Bedouin Campsite,  in the heart of the desert. A delicious BBQ dinner will be served at the camp. Later we will go to our hotel.

Day 16: February 15: Fly Home
This morning we will fly back to the US.  (Transfers are included if you booked our group airfare or your flight arrives on or before and departs on or after our group flights.)
