A Rare Treat!

Being in the Arctic this time of year, you can witness the “midnight sun”. This far north, the first part of July, the
sun may not even set. For sure it will stay light all night long. The most impressive Fjords in the world are the Chillan Fjords and the Norwegian Fjords. The word stunning to describe the Norwegian Fjords, may not be strong enough. This is one of the most staggeringly beautiful trips you can take anywhere on this earth. Cruising through the Fjords of Norway all the way into the Arctic Circle is an experience rarely matched by any other tour or cruise. We start in Amsterdam where you will experience windmills, dykes, canals, boat rides and Ann Franks house. We then sail from Amsterdam for 14 days 13 nights all way into the Arctic Ocean. One of your ports of call is at the very northern tip of Norway in the Arctic Ocean. You will sail through many stunning fjords and stop to explore in many beautiful ports of call. You will pass and stop at many of the quaint villages located throughout Norway’s Fjords. Your ports of call include: Geiranger, Molde, Honningsvag, Tromso, Flam (with its Flam Railway), Alesund, Olden and Bergen in the Norwegian Fjords. Life just doesn’t get any better than this. With the gigantic savings we received over what the ship is selling cabins for – 2024 is the best year to sail through the Norwegian Fjords.

Day 3: July 5: Amsterdam
Today we will finish more touring around the Amsterdam area.  We will also visit Ann Frank’s house and do a cruise on many of the canals that wind throughout Amsterdam.  After, we will continue mid afternoon to board your Royal Caribbean Cruise ship that will take us to Norway’s Fjords and the top of the Arctic Circle.

The visit takes about an hour, but the memories last a lifetime!”  The center is about a mile walk from the pier.  The cruise line also offers excursions in this port.  You can book them online or onboard the ship.

Day 8: July 10 : Honningsvag, Norway
Today’s port of call is Honningsvag Norway the furthest north city in Europe.  We are so far north, the sun may never set, it will be light the whole night.  Honningsvag has a population of less than 2,500.  In 1997 Norwegian legislation determined that in order to be considered a city, there must be a population of at least 5,000.  When the Honningsvagians learned of the impeding legislation they rushed to have their status as a city declared, thus preserving its status as the norther most city in Europe!  For those that have signed up for our optional shore excursion package we will start by driving across the barren landscape of the Arctic tundra of Mageroya to the North Cape cliff.  From here  the only thing between you and the North Pole is the islands of Svalbard.  While here at the “end of the world” we visit two small settlements which are distinct in their inhabitants, their stories and their scenery.  We then return to Honningsvag and our ship.

Day 9: July 11: Tromso, Norway
Today’s port of call is Tromso Norway.  For those that are doing our optional shore excursion package, we will be doing a tour of Tromso and surrounding area.

Day 12: July 14: Alesund, Norway
Today’s port of call is Alesund Norway.  For those that have signed up for our optional shore excursion package, we will spend the day touring Alesund and the surrounding area.  Today we will begin with a highlight tour of Alesund.  Alesund is a charming town with German-style architecture.  This is due to a catastrophic fire in 1904 which left more than 10,000 people homeless.  Keiser Wilhelm of Germany often vacationed in the area and when he heard of the fire he sent four warships loaded with construction supplies and assisted the reconstruction.  Later we continue to the Troll Road, Trollstigen.  This impressive stretch of road climbs along the steep mountainside with 11 hairpin turns.  This is one of Norway’s top tourist destinations.  Once we reach the top you will have free time to stroll around and take pictures.  The day will conclude back at the cruise ship.

Day 13: July 15: Olden, Norway
Today’s port of call is Olden Norway.  For those that are doing our optional shore excursion package, we will be doing a tour of Olden and surrounding area.

Day 14: July 16: Bergen, Norway
