Besides observing the world of color and abundance of exotic fish, sponge gardens and unusual marine creatures we will visit a mysterious sunken airplane and a sunken 70 year old Danish fishing trawler. Each site has an intriguing story shared by our co-pilot. This is a fantastic adventure, you can enjoy the beauty of the reefs while staying completely dry.
Day 6: December 11, 2015 – Cartagena, Colombia
Today we experience the uniquely magnificent city of Cartagena, a UNESCO World heritage site, in air conditioned motor coaches with local bilingual qualified guides. We will visit a chapel dedicated to the Virgin de La Candelaria, patron saint of Cartagena and a Colonial Museum. The tour continues to San Felipe de Barajas, which is situated outside the walled city. This monumental fort is considered to be the most outstanding feat of Spanish military engineering in the New World with its construction beginning in 1536 and lasting for 121 years. After our visit to the fort, the tour continues to the magical walled city, a construction that took 194 years to be completed and enabled Cartagena to defend herself from the attacks of marauding English pirates. You then continue to the Dungeons within the walled city ramparts. Originally built to store provisions for the troops, they are now home to a high quality handicrafts market selling brightly decorated cloth, woodwork & woven bags made by some of the indigenous peoples of Colombia.
Day 7: December 12, 2015 – Panama Canal, Panama (Gatun Lake) & Colon, Panama
Today will be a highlight day as we go through the locks into Gatun Lake. The Panama Canal still remains one of the great American engineering feats of the 20th century. We will not be offering any tours in Gatun Lake or Colon Panama since there is not enough time. You can purchase a shore excursion through Princess Cruises for a Gatun Lake tour. The only way to disembark the ship in Gatun Lake will be by purchasing a tour through the cruise line. Later in the day, the ship then retraces her route through the Gatun locks to dock in Colon. All passengers are able to disembark in Colon, where they may explore the dockside shops.
Day 8: December 13, 2015 – Limon, Costa Rica
Today you will have the option to either soar through the jungle on our Zip-Line Canopy Tour or take a relaxing stroll through the rainforest along with a city tour of Limon. Either is an unforgettable experience. Both groups also enjoy a river cruise. Your guide explains the rain forest eco-system and points out sights of interest. Keep an eye out for wildlife including howler monkeys, many sloths, toucans, aquatic birds, bats and crocodiles as well as exotic flora.
Day 9: December 14, 2015 – Fun Day at Sea
Relax by the pook, eat, take a class…whatever you do today, Have Fun!
Day 10: December 15, 2015 – Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Today we will tour the countryside of Jamaica including the beautiful Fern Gully Rain Forest. Spend some time bargaining at some of the local village shops and enjoy the breathtaking views of the island. Then it’s off to Dunns River Falls a 973-foot waterfall that cascades like a staircase. Dunn’s River Falls is considered to be the #1 reason people visit Jamaica. You have two options at the falls, you can either hike the falls or or walk the easy trail alongside the falls. The hike up the falls is strenuous and not recommended for those with walking difficulties. We suggest water shoes or sandals with a tread to make it easier.
