When you blend a fantastic cruise ship like Caribbean Princess with a fantastic itinerary, and then add a fantastic educator – you end up with a Fantastic Vacation. This is the vacation of a life-time. We have added our own touch to this special cruise. The ship sails from London, making its first stop in Bergen. This is the only stop it will make in Norway. It is a crime to come so close to the majestic fjords of Norway and miss them. We have decided to do our own itinerary and experience the best Norway has to offer. We have added an optional Fjords of Norway pre-tour to your Princess Cruise that will insure this will be a FANTASTIC VACATION.

Optional Fjords of Norway Pre-Tour

Those who choose the pre-tour will board the ship in Bergen while everyone else boards in South Hampton, England and then spends a day at sea sailing to Bergen. You will start in Oslo and spend several days touring the Norwegian Fjords before boarding the ship in Bergen. Below is what we are including in the fjords of Norway pre-tour before boarding your beautiful cruise ship in Bergen.

The buildings represent the way Norwegians lived from the 12th century to the 19th century, including a 13th century Gol Stave Church.
  • We will then travel into Northern Europe’s largest mountain plateau where you will enjoy views of Glaciers and huge waterfalls. You will drive the steep Stalheimskleiva Road offering views of the Stalheimsfossen  Waterfalls.
  • You will enjoy a fjord cruise, traveling past the beautiful villages of Aurland and Undredal before entering the Naeroyfjord, one of the narrowest fjords in Norway. We also sail on the Sognefjord through an area that is so beautiful it is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites.
  • We have also included the famous Flam Railway between Myrdal and Flam. This will be one of the highlights on this trip.

Optional Fjords of Norway Pre-Tour Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: August 26: Fly to Oslo
Fly from the US to Oslo, Norway.

Day 2: August 27: Oslo, Norway
After our arrival into Oslo we will have a city tour and we will then transfer to your 5 star luxury hotel in Oslo.

Day 3: August 28: Oslo Norway
Your full day tour of Oslo will include the Viking Museum. The highlight of the day will be the Open Air Museum. Norway has gathered ancient homes, farm houses, schools, churches (even a Stave Church) from around Norway and set it up into an open air museum. Much like Plymouth Plantation near Boston and Williamsburg in Virginia, it is like stepping back in time where everyone dresses and acts like they are living hundreds of years ago.

Day 4: August 29: “Norway in a Nutshell Tour”
Today will be a full day of highlights you will never forget. With our last group, most said this was their best day in all the time they spent visiting the Scandinavian Countries. Below are the details on the “Norway in a Nutshell” Tour. At the end of the day we will be in Bergen! Norway in a nutshell ® takes you through some of Norway's most beautiful fjord scenery. You can experience the scenic Bergen Railway, the breathtaking Flam Railway, the Aurlandsfjord, the narrow Naeroyfjord (now included on UNESCO's World Heritage List) and the steep hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva.

The Bergen Railway
The Bergen Railway is a unique experience on Northern Europe's highest-altitude railway line. The line was voted one of the 20 best railway experiences in the world.

The Famous Flam Railway
The journey on the Flam Railway is regarded as one of the highlights of Norway. The 20-km-long train journey from the mountain station of Myrdal down to Flam beside the fjord. It takes around 55 minutes. On the journey, you have views of some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in Norway with an ever-changing panorama of tall mountains and cascading waterfalls. The train moves slowly or stops at the best views.

Splendid Norwegian fjords - on UNESCO's World Heritage List!
Down at the picturesque village of Flam, there is time to eat and to wander around before continuing your journey by boat. The boat sails out the Aurlandsfjord and into the Naeroyfjord, one of the narrowest fjords in Europe. The Naeroyfjord is included on UNESCO's famous World Heritage List. Surrounded by towering mountains up to 5,500 feet high, this branch of the Sognefjord is amazingly beautiful. On the journey, you have excellent views of small traditional farms. If you are lucky, you will see goats grazing right beside the fjord and seals basking on rocks before the boat moors at Gudvangen.

Stalheimskleiva
The journey continues by coach up the steep and spectacular hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva*. The road up to Stalheim Hotel has 13 steep bends. After enjoying the wonderful views of the Stalheimsfossen and Sivlefossen waterfalls, continues the journey on to Voss and further by train to Bergen.
