by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: September 14:
Fly from the US to Milan
Day 2: September 15: Verona
After arriving into Italy we will travel to Verona, home of
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This is one of the most
picturesque old cities in Europe. After a tour of the old
town, you will have time to explore and have dinner at one of
the many sidewalk cafes.
Day 3: 7 September
16: Venice
This morning we will travel to Venice. In addition to our
tour in Venice you will have plenty of time to walk the many
old streets and bridges. You will also have time to take a
gondola boat ride and enjoy the many sidewalk cafes. We will
return back to Verona and our hotel around 8pm.
Day 4: September
17: Ravenna - Florence
This morning we will travel to Ravenna, a World Heritage Site.
Here they have some of the best ancient mosaic floors and
walls found anywhere in the world. This afternoon we will
travel to Florence where we will spend the next two nights.
We will stop for dinner on our way - (the hotel food is too
expensive).
Day 5: September 18: Florence
We will have a full day to enjoy Florence and all that it
has to offer. We will spend the day visiting the center of
the Renaissance, whose liberating ideas helped pave the way
for the reformation. This city is the home to the Medici family,
Michelangelo, Leonardo de Vinci and Dante. We will take a
guided tour of the old city, visiting such sites as the Piazza
del Duomo, including the beautiful Baptistry Doors that
inspired Michelangelo. We will also visit the real statue
of David in the Academy Museum. You will have time to shop
in the old streets of Florence and also time to enjoy the
many sidewalk cafes before returning to our
hotel this evening.
Day 6: September
19: Board your beautiful cruise ship
We will travel through the picturesque countryside as we head
to board our wonderful cruise ship. We will be there in plenty
of time to explore the ship before our evening departure.
You will spend the next 12 nights on a beautiful new ship.
Day 7: September 20: Our optional discounted shore excursion will include Pompeii,
a city completely covered in ash when Mt. Vesuvius erupted
in 20 AD, leaving behind artifacts and structures in near
perfect condition. We will also visit the beautiful coastal
village of Sorrento. Our coastal drive to Sorrento is breathtaking.
Day 8: September
21: Full Day at Sea.
Today we will have our own party and get together that is only for our passengers. The remainder of today you have to relax and explore your beautiful cruise ship.
Day 9: September
22: Marmaris
Turkey:
Ancient Ruins, pristine roads and beautiful beaches are what
Marmaris is known for. We have not designed our optional discounted
shore excursions yet.
Day 10: September
23: Izmir / Ephesus Turkey:
Our optional discounted shore excursion will include a full
day tour to the ancient ruins of Ephesus. These are some of the
best ruins in the world and should not be missed.
Day 11: September
24: Istanbul:
Part of Istanbul is in Europe and the rest is in Asia. Our
optional discounted shore excursions will include a boat ride,
Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, St. Sophie and the Grand Bazaar
and more.
Day 12: September
25: Fun Day at Sea
We will have another fun day with our own party and get together.
Day 13: September
26: Athens Greece
Our optional discounted shore excursion will include the Corinth
Canal, the ancient city of Corinth, Athens and The Acropolis.
Day 14: September
27: Katakolon Greece
Our optional discounted shore excursion will include ancient
Olympia, home of the first Olympics. You can visit the Temple
of Zeus and Hera as well as the old stadium.
Day 15: September
28: Full Day At Sea
This will be our last party and get together on the ship.
Day 16: September
29: Pisa
While the ship tries to put in both Florence and Pisa in the
same day (this is impossible). Since we have already been
to Florence, our optional discounted shore excursion will
include only Pisa, where you will have plenty of time to visit
this fantastic city. We will then drive through the Tuscany
countryside before returning to the ship.
Day 17: September
30: Rome
Rome is not a shore excursion - it is part of our land tour
- even though we will return to the ship in the evening. Rome
can not be done in a day as the ship is trying to do. We will
spend 3 days touring Rome. Today we will take a city tour,
visit the Coliseum and the Forum before returning to the ship.
Day 18: October
01: Rome
Today we leave our ship and start our second day of Rome touring.
We will visit the Pantheon, the many fountains including the
famous Trevi Fountain. We will also visit the Spanish Steps
and a wonderful surprise museum that you will love. We will
have time to eat in the sidewalk cafes before
checking into our Rome hotel.
Day 19: October
02: Rome
We want to be to the Vatican by 7:30am – often they
will let groups in without having to stand in line for the
1 hour plus. This is not always guaranteed, but usually works.
We will visit the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and the
world’s largest church, St. Peters Basilica. This afternoon
we will spend time shopping and then head back to our hotel
to prepare for our trip home.
Day 20: October
03: Fly Home
