He received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Brigham Young University, a master’s in media from the University of Arizona, and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in educational philosophy.

He has also written and co-produced the television documentary series called “The Joseph Smith Papers”. He travels extensively interviewing scholars and researching the original documents that tell the story of the early history of the Latter-Day Saints. His full time employment has been for the Church Education System for the last 22 years, in Seminaries and Institutes. Dave’s bachelors degree is in Psychology & his masters degree in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership both from BYU. He has a PhD in Parks Recreation and Tourism from the University of Utah. As part of his research into living history, he performed at ‘This is the Place Heritage Park’ playing Orrin Porter Rockwell the infamous lawman and bodyguard. Fred C. Adams is one of those rare people whose grasp is large enough to match his enormous reach. Even when he founded the Utah Shakespearean Festival in 1961, his vision was detailed and vivid; and, since then, he has exhibited the desire and commitment to make that vision come to fruition. Under Mr. Adams's guidance, the Festival has grown from a budget of $1,000 and 3,276 paid admissions in 1962 to 130,000 attendance and an annual budget of $7 million, now adding over $64 million to the local economy each year.

Ted Gibbons has been a teacher in the Seminaries and Institutes of the Church for over 35 years. He currently teaches at the Institute adjacent to Utah Valley University.
